Mike Dunn - Solo Tour 2010

Hello friends!
It has been a while. In the past year The Kings Of New England and I have had some big moments. We played the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas for the first time. It was a fun trip through the South, the rest of the band celebrated with lukewarm cans of Lone Star beer as we passed through Mississippi where apparently there are no open container laws. Don’t worry, I sipped my Arizona Green Tea at the wheel. I have always been blessed to be surrounded by friends in this band. The worst times really aren’t so bad when you’re with your best friends.
For the next month I’m hitting the road without that support group, it’s a little scary and a little exciting. For the month of September I’ll be on the road with my acoustic guitar and a little bit of merchandise. I’ll be traveling with a new friend, John Lefler. He plays guitar for the band Dashboard Confessional. We had the pleasure of opening up two shows for them this year. Playing before a sold out crowd at the House Of Blues was a big moment for us and it’s a blessing to have many new friends from those two shows. Out of all the bigger bands we have opened for, they have been the most kind, the most generous, when they had no obligation to be.
I’m a fan of John’s music, he has a record out called “Better By Design” I hope you check out. So the rental car is booked, the flights are scheduled, the bags are packed kinda. But sometimes in planning all this stuff you lose track of why you’re doing it in the first play. For me at least, I’m doing it to see the people that have supported the songs we have written. If you have a special connection to one of our songs, if there’s one you never hear me play, you are welcome to request it. If you want to play a song with me, you are welcome to do so. I’ll be posting charts to as many songs as I can on hear so you can play along at home.
If you don’t live in any of these cities, please tell you friends. I’ll be updating you all from the road as much as I can, follow the links below to keep up to date and you can always write me at mikedunncontact@gmail.com if you have any questions. Thanks for your support and I’ll see you on the road!
